MANILA, Philippines — Flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) airlifted more than 200,000 doses of COVID vaccine to nine cities yesterday.

Among the vaccine recipients were the cities of Bacolod, Butuan, Cagayan de Oro, Dumaguete, Iloilo, Tacloban, Tagbilaran, Tawi-Tawi and Zamboanga.

Yesterday’s flights brought to almost three million the number of vaccine doses delivered by PAL nationwide since March, according to PAL spokesperson Cielo Villaluna.

Meanwhile, the provinces of Catanduanes, Negros Occidental and Negros Oriental also received thousands of vaccine doses yesterday.

Catanduanes received 9,000 doses of the single-shot Janssen vaccine manufactured by Johnson & Johnson and 2,900 doses of AstraZeneca from the National Vaccination Operations Center.

Negros Island received 14,000 vials of Janssen and 290 doses of AstraZeneca.

The vaccines were delivered by PharmaServ Express, the third-party cold-chain facility and logistics partner of the Department of Health.

Last week, the country received 3.2 million doses of Janssen vaccine donated by the US government through the COVAX Facility of the World Health Organization.
