MANILA, Philippines — The San Juan City government yesterday received 60 bicycles and gadgets for workers and teachers from Team Woman in Action and the MVP Group of companies.
Mayor Francis Zamora and other local officials personally received the bicycles during a simple ceremony at the city hall grounds yesterday morning.
The donation also includes 15 mobile phones, 15 pocket Wi-Fis and 200 hygiene kits for teachers in the city.
Gretchen Ho, head of Team Woman in Action, said the bikes will help online sellers, delivery riders and other low-income workers in their daily activities with the country still under the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This whole project is really geared towards providing livelihood during the pandemic,” she said in her speech.
The other recipients of the bicycles are traffic enforcers, environmental officers and other city hall employees.
Officials from PLDT Smart Foundation, Metro Pacific Investment Corp., Meralco Foundation and PLDT Enterprise were present during the activity.
Zamora lauded MVP chairman Manuel Pangilinan for his assistance to the city’s residents and workers.
