Man who led cops on wild car chase charged
MANILA, Philippines — Police have filed criminal charges against Arvin Tan, the man who went amuck and was chased by authorities from Quezon City to Manila.
Tan underwent inquest before the city prosecutor’s office on Wednesday night, according to Kamuning police station 10 commander Lt. Col. Alex Alberto.
Police said a 21-year-old woman, who accompanied Tan at the hotel where he went berserk on Tuesday, filed a complaint against him for violating Republic Act 9208 or the Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act.
Police said Tan was subjected to a drug test to determine if he was high on shabu during the car chase.
A sachet of suspected shabu and drug paraphernalia were allegedly found by police in Tan’s black BMW car.
“We are waiting for the drug test result,” Alberto said.
The Quezon City Police District (QCPD) is seeking the revocation of Tan’s driver’s license. Probers are also checking if he is authorized to own a firearm.
“We will recommend the revocation of his driver’s license and permit to own a gun kung meron man siyang firearms,” QCPD director Brig. Gen. Antonio Yarra said.
