Voters for 2022 polls hit 60 million
MANILA, Philippines — The number of registered voters for the 2022 general elections has reached more than 60 million, according to the Commission on Elections (Comelec).
“As of today, we have 60.1 million voters,” Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon posted on Twitter yesterday.
Guanzon said only around 69 percent of the registered voters are expected to cast their vote.
Guanzon said the Comelec would face difficulty in monitoring the campaign expenses of the candidates, who are expected to use social media platforms as mass gatherings remain prohibited.
The poll body will seek the help of Facebook and Twitter in monitoring the campaign expenses of the candidates, Guanzon added.
