MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City government yesterday ordered the closure of a gastropub for hosting a birthday party on Friday, which violated COVID-19 protocols.

A video of the party in Ciso’s Gastrobar along Del Monte Avenue went viral on social media.

Ranulfo Ludovica, who heads the city’s Task Force Disiplina, said the local government issued a closure order against the establishment.

Ludovica said the gastropub breached health and safety guidelines as most of the attendees did not wear face masks and failed to observe physical distancing protocols to curb the spread of COVID-19.

“Kahit na meron silang permit, basta nag-violate ng protocols ay subject for closure,” he said.

Ludovica, in a separate interview on Teleradyo, said the party was organized by social media influencers whom he did not name.

Authorities will get a copy of the pub’s log sheets to locate the party attendees for contact tracing.
