Civilian victims of Sulu plane crash get more aid
ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — The provincial government of Sulu has provided additional financial assistance to civilians who were affected when a C-130 plane crashed in Patikul on Sunday.
Sulu Gov. Abdusakur Tan Sr. directed the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to release an additional P100,000 to the family of Silgaya Hamidan, 50, and her grandsons Tan Amjadi Hakkam, 18, and Jimar, 16, who died when the plane crashed in Barangay Bangkal.
Sonny Abbing, Sulu provincial information officer, said the provincial government had earlier released P50,000 to the family of the fatalities.
Abbing said three civilians who were injured and remain confined in a hospital received P20,000 aside from the P10,000 earlier given to them.
The victims were airlifted to a hospital in Zamboanga City for further medical treatment.
Abbing said two other injured civilians who were not hospitalized received P20,000 each.
Tan also ordered the release of housing assistance to the owners of two houses destroyed in the plane crash, amounting to P100,000 each.
