MANILA, Philippines — To protect the public from online fraud, the Philippine National Police (PNP) yesterday launched a web portal where people can access records of accounts and other tools used in scams.

PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar unveiled the Enhanced Anti-Cybercrime Campaign, Education, Safety and Security or E-ACCESS.

The website has two features. The cyberweb is a real time collection and analysis of cybercrime data from police units across the country.

The cybercrime watch is an online application where netizens can verify whether online accounts, cell phone numbers and e-mail addresses have been used in online fraud.

“Pwede sila mag-check sa website para malaman kung ito bang mga online accounts na ito ay nasa listahan natin,” Eleazar said at a press briefing.

To ensure the success of E-ACCESS, the PNP has set aside a funding of P35 million for the purchase of equipment for the Anti-Cybercrime Group.

ACG director Brig. Gen. Marvin Manuel Pepino said there has been a spate of financial frauds during the COVID-19 pandemic as people have shifted mostly to online transactions.
