2 ex-cops tagged in teen’s slay surrender

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — Two former policemen accused of killing a 15-year-old girl and sexually abusing her and her cousin in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur surrendered on Wednesday.

Former S/Sgts. Marawi Torda, 34, and Randy Ramos, 37, turned themselves in to the San Juan police station in Barangay Bannuar at around 12:30 p.m., according to Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG) director Brig. Flynn Dongbo.

He said Torda and Ramos surrendered when informed that IMEG operatives were about to serve the warrants for their arrest.

Cabugao Regional Trial Court Branch 24 Judge Homer Jay Ragonjan issued the warrants for murder and rape against Ramos and murder and acts of lasciviousness against Torda.

The two were relieved from their posts last year.

The suspects reportedly accosted the victim and her cousin for violating the curfew when they attended a birthday party in San Juan on June 27 last year.

The victims were reportedly brought to a beach resort, where they were sexually abused.

The 15-year-old was shot dead by motorcycle-riding men after she and her cousin filed complaints against the policemen.
