Cainta fire leaves 145 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — At least 145 families lost their homes when a fire hit a residential area in Cainta, Rizal on Tuesday afternoon.

The municipal social welfare and development office said 75 houses along East Bank Road Floodway in Barangay San Andres were destroyed.

The fire, which broke out at around 4:38 p.m., was declared out at around 6:47 p.m., according to Fire Officer 1 Rheumfaith Saluib of the Cainta fire station.

Probers have yet to determine the cause of the fire, which destroyed some P250,000 worth of property.

There was no reported casualty. The affected residents were relocated to an evacuation center in the barangay.
