Quake shakes Surigao
MANILA, Philippines — A magnitude-5.1 earthquake shook Surigao del Sur yesterday, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.
Phivolcs said the quake caused no damage to property, but it could generate aftershocks.
The temblor occurred at 3:14 p.m., with its epicenter located 14 kilometers southeast of Bayabas, Surigao del Sur.
It was felt at Intensity 4 – classified as moderately strong – in Bayabas, Cagwait, Marihatag and Hinatuan, all in Surigao del Sur.
Intensity 3 was felt in Bislig City; Dapa, Surigao del Norte, and Gingoog and Magsaysay, both in Misamis Oriental.
Intensity 2 was recorded in San Francisco, Southern Leyte; Cagayan de Oro City, and Balingasag and Villanueva, both in Misamis Oriental. Intensity 1 was felt in Surigao City.
