Navotas eyes night inoculation at fish port

MANILA, Philippines — The Navotas City government plans to implement a night-shift vaccination drive once it finishes vaccinating daytime workers at the Navotas fish port, according to Mayor Toby Tiangco.

There is a need to inoculate the fisherfolk and other workers in the Navotas fish port where trading happens at night, Tiangco told One PH’s’ “Sa Totoo Lang” on Monday.

The city government plans to finish vaccinating daytime fishport workers first, he added.

The city government resumed on Monday the vaccination of essential workers after receiving a supply of CoronaVac and Sputnik V vaccines, Tiangco said.

Second jab hub in Valenzuela

The Valenzuela City government on Monday opened a second vaccination site for its industry workers, Mayor Rex Gatchalian said.

The second site at Justice Eliezer Delos Santos National High School in Barangay Ugong will cater to 1,200 workers this week.

The city’s first industry vaccination site is at Pasolo Elementary School.

The city government is implementing two shifts for the A4 vaccination: the morning shift and an “after-hour” shift at 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. to enable workers to get the jab after working hours.

Gatchalian said the city, known for its manufacturing, packaging and production industries, targets to vaccinate 50,000 blue-collar workers.

12-hour ops in Mandaluyong

Two mega vaccination sites in Mandaluyong City are now running for 12 hours to ramp up the daily vaccination rate in the city, the local government announced yesterday.

Mayor Menchie Abalos said she has approved the 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. vaccination hours at SM Megamall and Mandaluyong Medical Center to cater to more residents needing vaccination with the opening of the A4 and A5 priority group.

Abalos said medical staff and other personnel in both sites would have two shifts to ensure the continuous administration of vaccines.

The city has been implementing night vaccination extended hours in the two sites the past two weeks to cater to individuals under the A1 to A5 groups.

As of Monday, Mandaluyong has deployed 169,297 vaccine doses, composed of 129,893 first dose shots and 39,404 second doses.
