LAGUNA, Philippines — Four members of a family were found dead at their home in Barangay Canlalay in Biñan, Laguna yesterday.

Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran, Laguna police spokesperson, identified the fatalities as Johnny Martinez, 46; Jolly Espinas, 41, and their children Winston, 7, and one-year-old Brixton.

Gaoiran said a certain Melissa Loza discovered the bodies of the four at around 2 p.m.

Martinez was found hanging at the stairway with a nylon cord looped around his neck.

Lt. Col Giovanni Martinez, city police chief, said Espinas and her children suffered head injuries while their mouths were stuffed with cloth face masks.

Martinez said a bloodstained hammer was recovered at the scene.

Police are investigating if Martinez committed suicide after killing his family members as his hands were covered in blood.

The neighbors of the fatalities said they heard the couple quarrelling on Monday night.
