Chinese nabbed for P251 million shabu
MANILA, Philippines — An estimated P251 million worth of shabu stuffed in Chinese-labeled tea packs was confiscated by anti-narcotics agents from a Chinese man in Parañaque City on Sunday.
Chen Zhizun, 38, of 168 Tower 2 in Binondo, Manila, was apprehended during a sting at the parking lot of a grocery chain in Baclaran at around 3:30 p.m.
The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), Armed Forces of the Philippines, Southern Police District, Philippine National Police Drug Enforcement Group as well as the Pasay and Parañaque police launched the operation against the suspect.
Chen allegedly sold a pack of shabu for P1 million to a police officer who posed as a buyer.
The suspect yielded five bags containing at least 37 more kilos of shabu, according to PDEA.
Police said they confiscated Chen’s cell phone and two cars, which he allegedly used in the illegal drug trade.
The PDEA said it has yet to identify the suspect’s drug supplier.
Chen is being held by police on drug trafficking charges under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
