Artemio Dumlao - The Philippine Star

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet, Philippines — The barangay captain of San Mariano in Sta. Marcela town in Apayao is facing charges for allegedly violating quarantine protocols.

Bobby Daquioag, 52, reportedly attended a wedding ceremony and reception on May 28 at the house of a certain Eddie Corpuz, Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said.

Lee said Mayor Evelyn Martinez called their attention after she received a complaint.

Martinez said social gatherings are still not allowed in Apayao, which remains under modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ.

The entire province has been under MECQ since May 10 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases.
