2 hacked to death in Ilocos Sur

BAGUIO CITY , Philippines — Two persons died and two others were wounded in a hacking incident in Barangay Catucdaan in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on Thursday night.

Demetrio Sevilleja, 44, and his son Michael, 23, died. Sevilleja’s wife Didi and their other son Melvin were wounded.

Police said the suspect, Michael Gaspar, is Sevilleja’s son-in-law.

Responding police officers found the lifeless body of Sevilleja along the riverbank.

Initial investigation showed Gaspar went to the house of the victims and hacked them using a knife and a bolo.

The suspect reportedly suspects that the family members of his wife, who works abroad, have been badmouthing him.

A manhunt for the suspect is underway.
