BIFF leader, 34 NPA rebels surrender in Sultan Kudarat

SULTAN KUDARAT, Philippines — A  leader of the Maguid faction of the Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters surrendered to the military in Isulan town in this province on Wednesday.

Khalid Kalaing turned over four rifles to officials of the 7th Infantry Battalion, Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, 6th Infantry Division commander, said.

Also in Sultan Kudarat, Lt. Gen. Corleto Vinluan Jr., Western Mindanao Command chief, said 34 New People’s Army (NPA) rebels surrendered and turned over their firearms in Lebak and Kalamansig towns on Tuesday.

Vinluan said the surrenderees received cash and livelihood assistance from provincial and municipal government officials.

Maj. Gen. Juvymax Uy, Joint Task Force Central and 6th Infantry Division commander, said 73 NPA rebels have surrendered to the task force since January.
