70 families left homeless in Taguig fire

MANILA, Philippines — Around 70 families lost their homes to a fire that razed Marcelino Compound in Barangay Ususan, Taguig on Wednesday.

The blaze started at around 12:52 p.m., reached second alarm and destroyed around 50 homes before it was put out at around 2:13 p.m., the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) reported.

The BFP estimated the fire damage at around P375,000.

Some 41 families left homeless by the fire are currently staying at the Ususan Elementary School.

The city government provided food and gave relief goods, sleeping and hygiene kits, as well as cash assistance to displaced families.
