Family of 10 in Navotas under lockdown
MANILA, Philippines — A household in Navotas was put under lockdown after all of its 10 members contracted COVID-19, Mayor Toby Tiangco said yesterday.
He refused to identify the barangay where the family resides.
Quarantine bands have been affixed on the patients’ arms to make sure no one would leave the house, Tiangco said.
The quarantine band, which the city government developed, is equipped with a QR code to ensure those who wear it – whether patients or their close contacts – would not go out of their houses or isolation facilities.
Only city government personnel may remove the quarantine band once the patient tests negative for COVID-19. Those who deliberately destroy the band will be fined, according to Tiangco.
As of Friday, the city government has recorded a total of 10,771 confirmed COVID-19 cases with 10,263 recoveries, 355 deaths and 153 active cases.
