MANILA, Philippines — The temperature in Metro Manila soared yesterday to 36.6 degrees Celsius, the hottest recorded in the region so far this dry season, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

The hottest temperature was recorded at the PAGASA Science Garden in Quezon City at around 1:50 p.m.

PAGASA senior weather forecaster Chris Perez said temperatures are still expected to rise in the coming days due to the easterlies or warm air from the Pacific.

No tropical cyclone is expected to affect the country in the next three to five days, according to Perez.
