DAGUPAN CITY, Philippines — The city of Candon in Ilocos Sur was placed under modified enhanced community quarantine or MECQ starting yesterday until May 29 due to increasing COVID cases.
In an executive order, Gov. Ryan Luis Singson said the threat of COVID in the province remains high and alarming.
The province has 1,407 confirmed cases, 322 of which are active and need extensive contact tracing, Singson said.
Candon City recorded 60 cases as of Saturday. Indicators such as health, economic and social security as well as doubling of the cases showed there was a need to reclassify the quarantine status of the city.
