Hospital for OFWs to open by October
MANILA, Philippines — The first hospital exclusively for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and their dependents will open by October, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) said on Wednesday.
Labor Undersecretary Renato Ebarle said the construction of the OFW hospital in Pampanga is being fast-tracked after suffering delays due to the pandemic.
“We are targeting a soft opening by October,” Ebarle said at press briefing. “The project’s contractor is working double time. In fact, we are ahead of schedule by 2.41 percent.”
The DOLE targets to fully operate the 100-bed capacity hospital by the first or second quarter of 2022.
Ebarle said President Duterte wants all projects under his administration to be completed before his term ends.
The DOLE is set to start the hiring of medical personnel and acquisition of equipment for the P550-million hospital.
