Manila: 100% of ayuda distributed

MANILA, Philippines — The city government of Manila has distributed 100 percent of the national government’s financial assistance for residents affected by the latest lockdown, an official said yesterday.
Re Fugoso, who heads the Manila department of social welfare, said the MDSW completed the distribution of P1.5 billion worth of assistance as of yesterday. The distribution started on April 6.
“Our social workers, daycare workers and other MDSW personnel continue to work to ensure that each Manileño will get the benefit from the national government,” Fugoso said.
Around 377,000 families have received financial assistance, according to Fugoso. The MDSW is authorized by the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) to disburse P1,000 per individual, with a maximum of P4,000 per family.
Up to 6,418 persons with disabilities and 4,236 solo parents in the city have also received their emergency financial assistance from the national government.
Mayor Isko Moreno said even those who are not included in the DSWD list of beneficiaries may still be able to receive their financial assistance, subject to the availability of funds.
“These are those who wrote to the MDSW and the barangays with no lists of beneficiaries. We gave a second chance,” he said.
