Isko sends food aid to Manila relocates

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Manila government has provided food assistance to former city residents who were relocated to the nearby provinces of Bulacan and Cavite.

Mayor Isko Moreno said a total of 2,850 food boxes were delivered to beneficiaries in Naic, Cavite as well as Pandi and Norzagaray in Bulacan under the city government’s COVID-19 food security program.

“Whether in Manila or outside Manila, it does not matter. What is important is we help everyone during the pandemic,” Moreno said. “Voters or not, we will help all of them.”

He said each box containing three kilos of rice, 16 canned goods and eight sachets of coffee would augment a family’s food supply for a month.

The food security program was launched in February. City hall personnel deliver food boxes monthly to almost 700,000 families in Manila’s 896 barangays.
