TUGUEGARAO, Philippines — Batanes has regained its COVID-free status anew after all its five active cases recovered.
The regional office of the Department of Health announced on social media on Friday that all COVID patients in the province have recovered.
The last case was recorded on April 5, involving a returning resident from Uyugan.
Four other cases were quarantined at a government facility in Basco.
Batanes recorded a total of 10 cases.
Meanwhile, the municipal hall of Aparri in Cagayan was placed under lockdown from Saturday until the end of the month after six personnel tested positive for the virus.
Mayor Bryan Dale Chan said the office of the market and abatoir supervisor and those involved in emergency response and health services were not included in the lockdown.
With six new cases, Aparri breached the 100 mark of active infections at 104, Chan said.
