MANILA, Philippines — There was no special treatment given to the mother of Pasig Mayor Vico Sotto in the city government’s vaccination drive against COVID-19.
Sotto said his mother, actress Coney Reyes, patiently waited for her turn yesterday.
“My mom was the 6,318th Pasigueño senior citizen to get vaccinated! Naghintay siya,” he said in a post on Facebook.
Reyes followed the guidelines set by the Department of Health, Sotto said, adding that she could hardly complain since she was the one who taught him to follow the law.
At least 24,000 residents of Pasig have been vaccinated against COVID-19. Sotto lauded them for their patience.
Transmission in San Juan slows down
Meanwhile, the transmission of COVID-19 in San Juan has slowed down, compared to last month when a surge in cases started, Mayor Francis Zamora said yesterday.
The latest data from the city government showed there are 1,144 active cases in San Juan as of Friday.
Brian Geli, city public information officer, said in a Viber message they only recorded around 100 additional cases since the start of the month, compared to the 620 cases recorded during the entire month of March.
