Quezon City fire leaves 60 families homeless

MANILA, Philippines — Around 60 families were displaced in a fire that razed a residential area in Quezon City on Saturday afternoon.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said at least 30 houses were destroyed by the fire along Kaliraya street in Barangay Tatalon.

The fire broke out at around 3:19 p.m. and reached third alarm before firefighters doused the flames at around 4:11 p.m.

The BFP, in a report, said the fire originated on the third floor of a three-story house owned by a certain Florinda Paiste. Arson probers have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, which destroyed P450,000 worth of property.

There were no casualties during the blaze. A total of 12 fire trucks responded to the scene.

Meanwhile, a fire hit the storage room of the Robinsons Cyber Gate Tower 2 in Barangay Barangka Ilaya in Mandaluyong City on the same day.

The fire started at around 3:15 p.m., the BFP said. It reached second alarm before it was put out around 4:34 p.m.

There were no casualties during the fire, which destroyed P3.2 million worth of property.
