Newborn abandoned near Batasan complex

MANILA, Philippines — A baby was abandoned on a sidewalk near the Batasang Pambansa complex in Quezon City yesterday.

Authorities found the newborn in a carton box.

Rep. Ducielle Marie Cardema of party-list Duterte Youth offered a P25,000 reward for anyone who could lead authorities to the parents of the baby.

“Walang kwentang magulang, ubod nang iresponsable, walang pakialam kung mamatay ang sanggol sa kagat ng langgam o daga. Walang awang mga magulang!” Cardema said in a statement.

“We are offering P25,000 to anybody who can locate the parents of the baby. We will file a measure penalizing irresponsible parents,” she said.
