MANILA, Philippines — The Manila city government will require residents to use quarantine passes during the weeklong implementation of the strictest enhanced community quarantine.

In a March 27 letter, Manila barangay bureau officer-in-charge Romeo Bagay ordered barangay captains to issue quarantine passes to their constituents.

There will be one quarantine pass per family, the letter read.

The quarantine passes will be in an odd-even scheme.

Mayor Isko Moreno said the use of quarantine pass aims to help curb the transmission of the virus.

Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna led the start of the vaccination of senior citizens and those with comorbidities in Tondo yesterday.

The city government will inoculate the elderly and the sick using AstraZeneca vaccines, according to public information chief Julius Leonen.

There were 3,810 active cases of COVID-19 in Manila as of yesterday.
