Cop shoots worker over spat
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Philippines — A police officer reportedly shot dead a worker following a quarrel in Calamba, Laguna at dawn yesterday.
Leovil Brian Pelletero, 19, was declared dead on arrival at the Global Medical Center due to a gunshot to the abdomen.
Cpl. Javier Ian Medel of the Cabuyao police station surrendered after the incident that occurred at around 2:25 a.m.
Investigation showed that Pelletero and his friends were having a drinking session at an establishment in Barangay Cabuyao.
Medel and his friends were at a table beside Pelletero’s group.
The victim and his friends were talking in a local dialect, which reportedly irritated Medel who confronted the group.
A quarrel ensued between Medel and Pelletero and resulted in the officer shooting the victim dead.
