Rail lines closed for Holy Week

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will be closed from March 30 to April 4 and will resume operations on April 5.

MANILA, Philippines — The country’s railway lines will be closed this Holy Week to give way to maintenance activities, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said yesterday.

The Metro Rail Transit Line 3 (MRT-3) will be closed from March 30 to April 4 and will resume operations on April 5.

The Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2), will not operate from March 31 to April 4. Regular operations will resume on April 5.

On March 29, the LRT-2’s first commercial trip from its Recto and Santolan stations will be at 5 a.m. Its last commercial trip for the day is at 9 p.m. from its Recto station and 8:30 p.m. from its Santolan station.

The last commercial trip from both stations on March 30 will be at 8 p.m.

The LRT-1 will also have no operations from March 31 to April 4, with its regular operations back on April 5.

From March 29 to 30, the LRT-1’s first commercial trip is scheduled at 4:30 a.m., with its last trip from Baclaran at 10 p.m. and from Balintawak at 10:15 p.m.

The Philippine National Railways (PNR), meanwhile, will have no operations on April 2 and 3. There will also be no operations on April 1, except for its Calamba-Tutuban trip.

On April 4, certain routes that include Tutuban-Alabang, Tutuban-Calamba, Tutuban-Gov. Pascual, Gov. Pascual-Bicutan and Naga-Sipocot will resume operations.

The PNR will resume its regular operations on April 5. – Christian Imperio
