MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) yesterday warned foreigners found with fake quarantine bookings that they would be deported.

Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente issued the warning after the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases suspended the entry of foreigners to the Philippines.

“Only certain classes of foreigners will be allowed entry starting today until April 21. We will deport aliens who try to evade quarantine,” Morente said.

He said foreigners must submit valid quarantine bookings amid the surge in COVID-19 cases.

“Foreigners with fake quarantine bookings will be referred by the Department of Tourism (DOT) back to the BI for deportation proceedings. They will be blacklisted and banned from entering the country,” Morente said.

Last week, the DOT said tourists caught faking their swab test results would be penalized with up to six months in prison.
