MANILA, Philippines — A British man was reportedly caught with a sachet of methamphetamine hydrochloride after he checked into a motel in Makati City before dawn yesterday.

Joseph Chiang Ruban, 62, was arrested after a 22-year-old female therapist he hired complained to the motel’s management that Ruban allegedly forced her to take drugs, police said.

Motel personnel reported the complaint to the police, prompting officers from the Guadalupe Nuevo precinct to arrest Ruban at around 3 a.m.

Two police officers confiscated a sachet of shabu valued at P1,445 from Ruban after they ordered him to empty his pockets. They also seized a roll of aluminum foil, three lighters and a leather sling bag containing a wallet, P2,700 cash, cash cards and a smartphone.

In Muntinlupa, Dario Espano, 29, was arrested in a sting in Barangay Putatan on March 4.

Around 180 grams of shabu, with a street value of P1.22 million, was allegedly confiscated from Espano, according to a spot report from the National Capital Region Police Office.
