Drug busts: 3 killed, P27 million shabu seized

MANILA, Philippines — Three drug suspects were killed in anti-narcotics operations in Ilocos Norte and Pangasinan on Friday.

Police said Renzei Sibelous and Gervin Salbino engaged law enforcers in a shootout in Barangay Oraan East in Manaoag.

Ruel Adaon allegedly shot it out with law enforcers in Barangay Balacade in Laoag City.

In Bulacan, more than two kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P13.6 million were allegedly recovered from Jayson Quijoy during a controlled delivery operation in Barangay Guyong in Sta. Maria town.

Carlo Tude, who was arrested in a sting in Barangay Ermita, Cebu City, also on Friday, yielded more than a kilo of shabu valued at P7.14 million, police said.

Lt. Col. Raphael Alano of the 55th Infantry Battalion said a kilo of shabu valued at P6.8 million was recovered from Romie Diamillah Alawi in a joint military and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency operation in Barangay Porog in Pualas, Lanao del Sur on Thursday.

Alano said a pickup, a caliber .32 pistol, ammunition and assorted identification cards were among those recovered from the suspect.

Anti-narc cop sacked

Meanwhile, in Iloilo, anti-narcotics officer S/Sgt. Ildefonso de la Cruz was relieved from his post on Friday after he tested positive for shabu use.

Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said De la Cruz would undergo pre-charge investigation and summary dismissal proceedings.

On Wednesday, Sinas sacked Efren Garcia of the PNP Internal Affairs Service-Central Luzon legal affairs service, also for drug use. – Ramon Efren Lazaro, Raymund Catindig, Roel Pareño, Emmanuel Tupas
