2 dead, 2 hurt in Kalinga road mishap

TUGUEGARAO CITY, Cagayan, Philippines — A couple died and two others were seriously injured when their van plunged into a 180-meter ravine in Barangay Balinsiago Sur, Pasil, Kalinga on Friday.

Police said Daniel Minong and his wife Marilou Minong died at the scene. The driver of the van, Edgar Baddongon, and his brother Jerrymar were injured and taken to the Kalinga District Hospital for treatment.

Two other passengers, Ariel Lapitan and Johnreich Dawaton, were unhurt as they managed to jump from the vehicle.

The victims were on their way to Lubuagan town when the accident occurred at around 4 p.m.
