MANILA, Philippines — The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) has released at least P27.1 million in payout to over 6,000 public utility drivers under its service contracting program.
The LTFRB said 6,780 drivers received P4,000 each as of Monday.
Of the number of beneficiaries, 5,880 are traditional jeepney drivers.
The LTFRB said it expects more drivers to sign up for the service contracting program.
Around P5 billion has been allotted for the program to help drivers displaced by the pandemic.
