Go aids Pasay fire victims
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go on Tuesday led the distribution of assistance to 83 families affected by two fires that struck Pasay City recently.
Go visited the displaced residents who are taking shelter at Don Carlos Village Elementary School.
The senator and his team gave meals, food packs and financial aid to the residents after fires hit Don Carlos Village in Barangay 187 and Magtibay street in Barangay 134 recently.
The evacuees also received vitamins, masks and face shields to protect themselves from COVID-19.
Selected beneficiaries were given new shoes and bicycles. Those with school-aged children received computer tablets.
The Department of Social Welfare and Development gave additional cash aid while the Department of Health distributed vitamins and medicines.
Representatives of the Department of Trade and Industry assessed the residents to be given livelihood assistance.
Go has filed a Senate bill, which seeks the modernization of the Bureau of Fire Protection so firefighters could respond better to emergencies.
He reminded the public to take precautions to prevent fires.
