3 cops die in Davao road mishap

DAVAO CITY , Philippines —  Three policemen died while another was injured when their vehicle collided with a motorcycle in  Purok 2, Barangay Lagab, Compostela, Davao de Oro on Tuesday night.

Cpl. Aries Jay Eray and Pat. Armon Pelicano and Adamson Casador, who were in a Toyota Fortuner, died at the scene, according to Southern Mindanao regional police chief Brig. Gen. Filmore Escobal.

S/Sgt. Jayford Sumaliday, the driver of the sport utility vehicle, was wounded and brought to a hospital for treatment.

Initial investigation showed the accident occurred when Sumaliday lost control of the wheel and hit the motorcycle driven by Marlon Davenchi, who had  two backriders, in the opposite lane.

The SUV fell into a roadside canal due to the impact of the crash.
