MANILA, Philippines — Two motorcycle-riding men believed to be robbers were killed in what police said was a shootout in Quezon City on Thursday night.

Police said they have yet to identify the slain suspects.

Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni, Batasan Police Station 6 commander, said the encounter took place in Barangay Commonwealth at around 11:55 p.m.

Gadaoni said the suspects and two other cohorts were being pursued by lawmen after they robbed three persons in Barangays Commonwealth, Batasan Hills and Payatas.

The suspects took about P1,150 in cash, two cell phones and other personal belongings of the victims, police said.

The suspects who were on two motorcycles reportedly fired at the police along Nokia street, prompting authorities to retaliate.
