Man arrested for P4.9 million party drugs
MANILA, Philippines — Government agents apprehended yesterday a man after he claimed at least P4.9 million worth of the party drug Ecstasy at the Manila Central post office.
Ronron Salonga, of Port Area, Manila, was nabbed by agents of the Bureau of Customs (BOC), Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Group.
BOC-NAIA district collector Mimel Talusan said Salonga claimed the package containing some 2,878 Ecstasy tablets.
The package, declared as clothes and shoes, was sent by Mary Lumbao Edward from the Netherlands, according to Talusan.
When checked, Talusan said the package contained 12 packs of Ecstasy tablets.
Salonga is being held by police on drug charges and violation of Republic Act 10863 or the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act.
