2 cops hurt as suspect resists arrest

BACOLOD CITY , Philippines — Two police officers were injured while serving an arrest warrant to a murder suspect in Barangay Singcang-Airport in this city on Thursday.

Lt. Liberty Indiape, city police spokesperson, said Pat. John Ray Ortega was hit in the arm when Limuel Talaman opened fire.

Lt. Roque Jimeno suffered bruises in a gun scuffle with the suspect.

The law enforcers received a commendation and financial assistance from the Bacolod and Western Visayas police for the successful operation.

Indiape said the two could also be awarded the Medalya ng Sugatang Magiting, which is given to policemen wounded in action.
