Nagtahan flyover closed to trucks starting February 20

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Nagtahan flyover in Manila will be closed to trucks and trailers beginning Feb. 20, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced yesterday.

The MMDA said it would close the flyover to heavy vehicles after cracks and other signs of damage were found in the structure by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH).

The flyover is included in the DPWH’s list of structures in Metro Manila that are due for repair.

“Trucks will have to use alternate routes to reduce the flyover’s load limit and prevent accidents,” the MMDA said.

Trucks headed southbound are advised to take Earnshaw street, Legarda street, Ayala street and P. Burgos street to Roxas Boulevard as an alternative route.

For those headed northbound, heavy vehicles may take Quirino Avenue to Roxas Boulevard or Quirino Avenue Extension to United Nations Avenue to Roxas Boulevard.

The flyover will remain open to light vehicles, the MMDA said.
