MANILA, Philippines — Former Olongapo City mayor James Gordon Jr. has died, his younger brother Sen. Richard Gordon confirmed as he was about to sponsor a measure during a hybrid session at the Senate yesterday.
A staff of the senator said they still have no information on the circumstances of the former mayor’s death.
The senator described his brother as a “ long-serving mayor of Olongapo and a stalwart volunteer during the Pinatubo eruption.”
The older Gordon served as mayor of Olongapo City from 2004 to 2013. He also represented the first district of Zambales from 1995 to 2004 and served on the board of the Philippine Red Cross Olongapo chapter.
Senate President Vicente Sotto III and Majority Leader Juan Miguel Zubiri expressed their condolences to the senator and his family over the death of his brother.
