52 more cops get COVID-19
MANILA, Philippines — Fifty-two more Philippine National Police personnel have contracted coronavirus disease 2019 or COVID-19, the PNP reported yesterday.
Twelve of the new patients are assigned in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region while 10 are from Calabarzon.
The other regions with new cases are the Cordilleras with six; Metro Manila and Eastern Visayas, five each; Ilocos and Central Luzon, three each; Caraga, two, and Bicol, Central Visayas and Zamboanga peninsula, one each. The three others are from various administrative and operational support units of the PNP.
PNP deputy chief for administration Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar said the number of fatalities remains at 29 while 9,715 or 93.64 percent of the patients have recovered.
At least 630 are still recuperating in hospitals and quarantine facilities.
In Pangasinan, 31 inmates at the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology facility in San Carlos City tested positive for the virus.
The city information office said the 31, three of them women, are among the 42 new cases in the city.
