1 dead, 4 injured in Quezon road mishap

ATIMONAN, Quezon, Philippines — A woman died and four other persons were injured when their van collided with a cargo truck in Barangay Malinao Ilaya in this town yesterday.

Town police chief Maj. Dandy Aguilar identified the fatality as  Lea Ced, a resident of Imus, Cavite and wife of the driver of the van.

The van driver, Patrick Ced; Elvira Valez, 70; Rei Monicca Ced, 24, and Teresita Euste, 68, were injured and brought to the Doña Marta Memorial District Hospital for treatment.

The victims, who were pinned in the vehicle were rescued by personnel of the local police, municipal risk reduction and management office and Bureau of Fire Protection.

Initial investigation showed the van rear-ended the cargo truck while driving down the road at around 1 a.m.
