Former drug convict shot dead
MANILA, Philippines — A former drug convict was shot dead by armed men who barged into his home in Quezon City on Friday night.
Luis Abrigo, 59, was standing in front of his house in Barangay Batasan Hills when seven men wearing face masks barged inside, Batasan police station commander Lt. Col. Romulus Gadaoni said in a text message.
Abrigo’s partner told probers the assailants pulled out handguns of unknown caliber and shot him multiple times. He died at the scene.
The suspects fled on foot after the shooting.
Gadaoni said Abrigo was released from prison on June 6, 2020 after serving his sentence for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
Probers are investigating if Abrigo’s past involvement in illegal drugs is related to his murder.
Police investigators recovered nine bullet casings and three deformed bullets at the scene.
