MANILA, Philippines — A bridge in Manila would be closed to traffic starting tomorrow and reconstructed over the course of seven months, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said yesterday.
“The total replacement of the bridge will be completed by September this year, according to the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)’s plan,” the MMDA said.
The bridge, located in Sampaloc, is 14 meters long and 11 meters wide.
While the closure would take effect tomorrow, the mobilization of construction equipment started last night.
The government will issue a rerouting plan because the project is expected to cause traffic jams, the MMDA said.
The MMDA said motorists heading to R. Magsaysay may use Vicente Cruz and D. Tuazon streets while those heading to A.H. Lacson Avenue would be rerouted via España Boulevard.
