Davao curfew, liquor ban extended

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The liquor ban and curfew in this city has been extended until March 31 as the number of coronavirus disease 2019 cases continues to rise.

In an executive order issued on Friday, Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio stressed the need to regulate certain activities that could contribute to the transmission of the virus.

The city is among the five areas in the country which recorded the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the past weeks.

It will remain under general community quarantine for the entire February as recommended by the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases or IATF.

The liquor ban and curfew, which were initially implemented in the city on April 6 last year, were lifted on Sept. 21 as the local government allowed business establishments to resume operations.

Carpio issued an EO reimposing the twin measures last Nov. 2 until the end of last year then extended it for another month.
