4 dead in Batangas road mishap

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna , Philippines — Four persons, including a police officer, died while seven others were injured in an accident in Nasugbu, Batangas yesterday.

Police said Lt. Col. Charlie Abot of Barangay Pinagbuhatan in Pasig City, truck driver Edgar Adesas, his helper John Rey Basilan and bystander Rachelle Dime died at the scene.

Initial investigation showed Adesas was driving a truck loaded with steel beams when he lost control of the wheel  while driving down the road in Sitio Bayabasan, Barangay Aga at around 7 a.m.

The truck hit a Toyota Wigo and a Toyota Vios before it collided with a Toyota Fortuner, all in the opposite lane. One of the cars hit Dime. The truck also plowed into several houses and a store.

S/Sgt. Cesar Seña and Jomar Denoso, drivers of the Fortuner and Vios, respectively, were injured and taken to a hospital for treatment.
