Roel Pareño - The Philippine Star

ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Four persons died when a motorcycle and a pickup collided along the highway in Tungawan, Zamboanga Sibugay on Monday.

Capt. Edwin Duco, Zamboanga peninsula police spokesman, identified the fatalities as motorcycle rider Diosdado Villaruz, his backriders Arnold Arquisa, 34; his four-year-old son Zian, and Hazel Wamilda, 33.

Arquisa’s one-year-old daughter Ariane was injured.

Initial investigation showed the pickup hit the motorcycle in the opposite lane while avoiding a damaged portion of the road.

“Due to the impact, the riders of the motorcycle were thrown off their vehicle,” Duco said, quoting police reports.

The driver of the pickup, June Rey Albios, surrendered.
