MANILA, Philippines — National Capital Region Police Office chief Vicente Danao Jr., who is among the most trusted police officials of President Duterte, received his second star yesterday.

Danao was promoted to the rank of police major general, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Gen. Debold Sinas said.

“Yes he is already a major general,” Sinas told reporters.

Prior to his appointment as Metro Manila police chief, Danao was director of the Calabarzon police.

He headed the Manila Police District from May to October 2019.

Danao served as police chief of Davao City when Duterte was mayor. He was transferred to the PNP Directorate for Intelligence at Camp Crame as counterintelligence chief at the start of Duterte’s term as president.

Danao is a member of the Philippine Military Academy’s Sambisig Class of 1991.
